To truly experience spring in Florence, it helps to think in terms of experience “clusters”: the weeks of March with city festivals and traditions; the Easter period around the Duomo; late April to early May with major fairs and gardens opening; and finally May, often rich in family events and festivals dedicated to natural wines and educational tastings.
Cultural festivals and music from March to May
One of the city’s most distinctive celebrations is the Florentine New Year, which takes place every March 25 and is traditionally accompanied by initiatives from the “Settimana del Fiorentino,” with events that may vary each year, including historical parades, guided visits and cultural activities.
For those who enjoy international cinema events, spring 2026 will feature the Florence Korea Film Fest (March 19–28), with screenings and special events over several days at Cinema La Compagnia.

At the end of March, Florence Flower Show (March 28–29) returns to Giardino Corsini.

Between the end of March and Tuscany’s food and wine traditions, Il Gusto Toscano (March 28–29) takes place at Il Conventino Fuori le Mura, offering free entry and guided tastings or masterclasses upon reservation.
In April, cocktail lovers can enjoy the Florence Cocktail Week, from April 16 to 22, with a week of events across cocktail bars and hotel bars throughout the city.
In May, two interesting events for those looking for tastings or artisanal wines:
- on May 9, Eataly hosts a themed tasting course dedicated to Fried Food & Sparkling Wines
- on May 16–17, ViNoi returns as the Artisanal & Natural Wine Fest at Lumen Firenze, with a market-style format and tastings at producers’ stands
Finally, between late April and early May, MIDA – Mostra Internazionale dell’Artigianato (April 25 – May 3) often combines craftsmanship and gastronomy, with “Gastronomy” included among the official exhibition categories.
